So now we graduate from looking at stuff on the interwebs to the physical world. Congratulations!
In Japan you are going to be eating with chopsticks mostly and assuming you want to be able to eat effectively it is useful to learn how to use them. I went to the local Asian grocery store and picked up some cute chopsticks so I can start learning. Basically just eat anything you can with chopsticks. I often snack on apples so I just cut them into cubes and grab them with the chopsticks. Chopsticks are pretty frustrating even though I did learn to use them as a kid. However, I have gotten pretty good at them now. It's fun.
Now, since one chopstick is pretty useless we have to figure out how to keep them together, right? I found a really simple sewing pattern to make a chopstick case. This is so I can take them with me for packed lunches and just keep them together in general. Just wash them after each use (or at least wipe them down if you don't have access to a sink) then put them back in the case.

Pattern for Chopstick Case
Here are some pictures of my chopsticks and case. Not super fancy or anything but good enough for me. Also sorry the pictures aren't great, they were taken at night.
